Approach

Human Factors & Ergonomics

A control centre project passes through several phases: feasibility, analysis, design, detailed engineering, and implementation. A Human Factors or Ergonomics contribution aims for optimizing the new control centre design. HF contributions are relevant at all project phases; read more about this on the Consultancy page: Human Factors Integration.

You might worry about HF engineering costs, however it is not considered an additional activity. Qualified Human Factors professionals can take care of control centre layout and workplace engineering in less time than, for example, instrumentation or process control engineers. 

Task Analysis

To enable the Human Factors Professional to do a good job, a thorough insight in control centre jobs is required. Read more.

User participation

A human centred design also requires an involvement of users. The HF Professional will be able to organize user participation. Read more about tools for effective user participation.

Deliverables HF Engineering

For each project phase, suitable products can be delivered by the HF Professional: task analysis report, layout sketches, 2D drawings, 3D modelling and photo realistic images. Have a look at the examples.
